Diesel Does it Again
The Fat Controller couldn't let go the fact that he wanted an extention to Arlesdale. He had heard of great ballast up in those hills.
"Surely I could get some miniture gauge engines, and build a railway," he thought, "but who would shunt at Tidmouth?"
Vicarstown Dieselworks was just recently built and the Fat Controller had assigned Robert Means as 'Diesel locomotive expert' there, and a BR Class 42 named Diesel 10 to assit there.
"Hullo, Sir," greeted Robert, "still looking for a permanent Diesel shunter?"
"Yes, but I think I might be better off getting a steam engine," he replied.
"Well Sir. Now-a-days even though the Dieselworks was just recently built, we do have the power Ashford Works has", and he winked, "Dennis' builder."
"Wait, what are you up to?"
"I'm been planning it since 1958 to be honest. And I've spoken with BR officials, and they've approved..."
"A plan to built a working replica of Dennis the Bulleid 11001 for the North Western Railway. And I guess now's the right time to tell you."
"I'm sure you can't make all the parts."
"We can't, but they said they'd ship some major parts that they assume we would not be able to build. I call this whole plan Project 11001. I'm pretty sure you'll be impressed when we finish."
"Oh, finally, another Diesel," Diesel 10 added, "I'm tired of being alone. It'll be nice to have company."
"When do you plan to start?"
"It has already started..."
To be continued....
