Edward, James, and the Mail is the fifty-seventh episode of the fourth season.

Percy and the Mail Contest
Percy is ill next midnight, and Edward and James are trying to cheer him up, they see the Fat Controller who with the Duke and Duchess of Boxford is telling Spencer how silly he is challenging Little Engines. The Fat Controller sees Edward and James and tells them THEY will take charge of the Mail Train. They find it rather easy, only having to stop at each Stations, and then porters unload the parcels and letters. All is going well until James comes off the track. His Tender and the Mail Trucks stayed on then Track. Quickly they put out James' fire and Edward took the Trucks back to the Mail Depot. Soon, Rocky loaded James onto a flat truck and he puffed away with a Buffer missing and left side scratched. Later, Spencer is blamed for James' accident and Percy's illness and that cheers both of them up.
