Dodger and the Diesels is the fourth episode of Dodger the Coal Mines Engine.
By 1995, Diesels had made more plentiful appearences on Sodor.
"The Diesels", asked Dodger one day.
"Yes", the Fat Controller replied.
Dodger met James at Tidmouth.
"Hello, Dodger", said James. "Where are you working today?"
"First, I have orginize trucks with a Diesel. Then, I have to work with another diesel at Sodor Slate Quarry. Then, I have to take slate down to a place FULL of Diesels. Then, another Diesel is going to assist me at Vicarstown Coal Mines. I hate Diesels", Dodger told him.
"Now, now. Not all Diesels are devious. Mavis, is quite nice. Do watch out for Diesel though, and however you're working with at the Coal Mines", replied James, and left.
He growled along the way to Anopha Quarry. He didn't notice Thomas, Percy, or Toby. But he did notice Daisy.
Soon, he arrived at Anopha Quarry, and bumped right into Mavis.
"Watch it!", she cried.
"Let's get to work", Dodger said simply.
Dodger soon marshled the trucks, and prepared to leave. Just as Mavis broke down. Black smoke flew all over him!
"(cough) Eww", he coughed.
"Well", said the manager. "This means you'll have to take her Dodger. Along with your slate train."
"You expect me to pull THAT, and my slate train."
"I'm afraid so."
Dodger was not happy, and felt embarrased, and felt everyone he passed laughed at him. Really, they weren't and looked at him anxiously. He also was not concentrating.
"Stop!", yelled Mavis.
He crashed into Diesel.
"Woah, watch it you silly steamie."
"I am not silly", Dodger replied.
"Well, anyway, there's your slate train. I'm sure you can fetch it", Diesel replied, and oiled away.
Dodger hurried. He passed, the first set of points to the Dieselworks, and instead of backwards went forwards.
"Hello", called Den and Dart as he entered.
"She's broken", he called. "Goodbye!"
"Wait... um, well."
"Dizzy Diesels. What he means is. Wasn't that too quick. Come back soon", Dart called.
"I hope I don't", he thought as he left.
He found no Diesels at the Mines.
"Ha, ha! No Diesels! Yeah!"
But he had spoken too soon. A black Diesel with a lime stripe rolled over.
"Hi. I'm Paxton. Ready to shunt trucks?"
Dodger knew this was going to be a long day.
