Delete's Brothers is the thirty-ninth episode of Delete the Mixed-Traffic Engine.
The engines gathered around the Fat Controller. Steam had now been abolished on British Railways, and only a certain number of locomotives survived.
Delete was anxious like all of them.
"Now, now. I have the list of survivors. Thomas, the other nine of your class were scrapped, making you the last LB&SCR E2 in the world. Edward, your class ceased in 1932. Henry... an astounding 18 Black Fives survived."
"Whoa," exclaimed Henry.
"Gordon, though only your brother exists, it is lucky that he is probably one of the most famous engines in the world if not the most famous, and he is set to go to USA and Austrilia next. James, one Class 28, and identical Class 27 survive on the Ribble Steam Railway. Percy..."
"I'm the first, only, and last of my class," he said firmly, "no one can tell otherwise."
"Very acurrate. Toby, you too are the last of your class, so the whole Branch is 'last of class'. Duck, sixteen of your brothers survive."
"Very glad to hear that, Sir."
"Donald and Douglas, one of the Caledonian 812s lives on. No. 828 is preserved and in the same livery. Some folks from Glasgow came and told me that. Oliver, six of your brothers and sisters survive. So GWR has a lot preserved. David and Dodger, I'm sorry to say that you both are the last of your class."
"Yes, Sir, we understand."
Delete looked at his friends, and understood how they must feel.
"You Delete will never understand being the 'last of my class', because... two of your brothers and sisters live on. I'm very pleased to say that."
"I'm..." Delete felt a mixture of happiness, but sadness for his friends.
"Now, we must not mourn over the End of Steam, we must stand tall, and represent our class. One thing's for sure, you will always be in working order, so get out there and make your railway proud!"
And the engines whistled in agreement.
