Extension Project
Into the Old Mid-Sodor Railway

The extension project soon began.

Mike was almost always on duty, unless he had to take a ballast train.

Jock usually ran passenger runs but ocassionally helped out.

Frank continues his maintence duties and brought workmen and supplies to the sites.

Bert and Rex were 'all-arounds' which meant they varied throughout the day more than the other three.

The first stage was to demolish Arlesdale, and a replacement station would be built near the place Duke was found.

Mike brought a load of trucks to the site.

"Ugh! What bumpy roads!" he exclaimed.

"Well, they are knocking down," his Driver commented.

"What's going to happen to this place after the demolishion.

"Probably going to be turned into a school or playground. I'm sure the Small Controller'll find a use for it."

Mike took trucks down to Arlesburgh. Duck then took them to be disposed of.

"This line of trucks needs to be taken down to the site of the new station," the foreman said.

"Yes, Sir! Right away, Sir!" and whistling loudly, he set off.

"My word! Such rotten rails!" Mike cried as he went onto Mid-Sodor Railway land.

"Click-clack. Click-clack.

Don't look back

Bumpy Roads and Rotten Rails."

sang the trucks.

"There's plenty to do here," said the Small Controller to a group of workmen. "Replace track's the first. Then, those sheds will be for the Small engines. I figure we might make a use of them. Oh, hullo Mike."

"I'm glad the track's going to be replaced. I can't stand these rotten rails."

"Don't worry. That'll be the first thing. This is only the beginning . . ."
